FMIPA UNJ TOWARDS INTERNATIONAL STANDARD FACULTY

State University of Jakarta is one of the State Universities located in the National Capital which has a vision to become a reputable university in the Asian Region.

This commitment is one of the efforts made by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNJ by building a network of cooperation with various world-class universities, one of which is Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). The collaboration between FMIPA UNJ and UTM has been going on since 2018.

The collaboration began with a collaboration where the Biology Study Program in 2018 collaborated with the Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD), which is a center of excellence in the development of natural products research and bioproduct development in the field of biotechnology. The following are some of the activities carried out together throughout 2018-2021:

  1. General Lectures at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UNJ given by Prof. Dr. rer. grout. Hesham A. El Enshasy with the theme Biotechnology Applications in various fields of life.
  2. Workshop 3 Day Course On Bioprocess Platform Design For Industrial Products Of Probiotics (From Cell Bank To Bulk Powder) Collaboration Between FMIPA and IBD On Date 12 September 2018 was held at UTM with participants from UTM and UNJ.
  3. Professional Training Course for Isolation and Identification of Microbial Bio-factories for Enzyme Production for Food and Feed Industry, 10-14 December 2018” held at the Lab UNJ Microbiology with participants from UTM and UNJ.
  4. Collaboration “7th International Conference on Biotechnology for the Wellness Industry” 27-28 November 2018 involving lecturers and Undergraduate Chemistry students, FMIPA UNJ .
  5. The 2nd International Postgraduate Symposium in Biotecnology 2019 collaboration which involved 10 Undergraduate Chemistry and Biology students, FMIPA UNJ as speakers.
  6. The collaboration was continued by making LOC for 1 year from January 2019 it was followed by an MOU in 2020.
  7. Science and Mathematics International Conference (SMIC) 2020.
  8. Joint publications related to the fields of expertise of each researcher, both from UTM and UNJ which focuses on Bioscience and Biotechnology.
  9. Collaboration continues to grow until the establishment of an MOU between UNJ and UTM with the achievement of 50 publications in the form of Papers and books chapters since 2018-present.

Today, January 17, 2022, there is another collaboration between FMIPA UNJ and UTM in the form of a One Day Workshop with the topic “Biohelth in Tropic: Herbal and Microbial Resources”. As for this activity, besides aiming to increase international cooperation, this activity is also to commemorate the achievement of 50 publications in Scopus/Reputable indexed journals/proceedings during collaboration for 3 years (2018-2021).

The implementation is carried out regularly. online through ZOOM and broadcast through the FMIPA UNJ YouTube channel.

In this workshop from UNJ was attended by, Prof. Komarudin as Chancellor of UNJ, Dr. Totok Bintoro as Vice Chancellor for planning and cooperation, Prof. Muktiningsih as Dean of FMIPA and lecturers from FMIPA UNJ. While from UTM was attended by, Prof. Datuk Ahmad Fauzi Bin Ismail, Prof. Dr. Rosli Md. Ilias, Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Hesham Ali-Enshasy; Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Roshanida. Bt. Rahman.

In his speech, Prof. Komarudin said that it was an honor for me to welcome this workshop, a collaboration between the Institute of Bioproduct Development (IDB) University Technology Malaysia and FMIPA UNJ. This is certainly in line with UNJ’s vision, which is to become a reputable university in the Asian region. These results can be seen from the publication of 50 journal publications.

On the same occasion, Prof. Datuk Ahmad Fauzi from UTM said that the one day workshop was the highlight of the event ra from the ongoing cooperation that has existed for 3 years between UTM and UNJ and as a means of reflection on the many activities that UTM and UNJ have carried out together.

In line with that, in his speech also Prof. Muktiningsih said that his party was grateful for the contributions so far for those involved in the collaboration between UNJ and UTM, and hopefully it will continue in the future, international collaboration in the fields of research and publications. In addition, it is also expected to be able to develop cooperation in the field of community service, double degree programs, and the development of the STEM Center at UNJ. This collaboration is expected to be an example by other faculties within UNJ in an effort to improve the quality of UNJ which is in line with its vision of becoming a reputable university in the Asian Region, said Prof. Muktiningsih.

The event was continued with a workshop session. This workshop presented 10 speakers, the following is the list of speakers: 1) Prof. Dr Muktiningsih Nurjadi, M. Si (UNJ) with the title “Development of Detection of Foodborne Pathogens with the Real-Time PCR Method in Increasing the independence of the Nation”; 2) Assoc. Prof. Dr Chua Lee Suan (IBD UTM) with the title “Effect of Fermentation Time on Nutritional Quality of Black Garlic”; 3) Dr. Tri Handayani Kurniati, M.Si. (UNJ) with the title “Potency of Biosurfactant as Antibacterial Agent”; 4) Ts. Dr. Daniel Joe Dailin (IBD UTM) with the title “Microbial Exopolysaccharides: Resources, Production and Applications”; 5) Dr. Fera Kurniadewi, M. Si (UNJ) with the title “Secondary Metabolites From Some Indonesian Cryptocarya Species (Lauraceae) as Potential for Lead Compound Tumor”; 6) Dr. Zaidah Rahmat (IBD UTM) with the title “The Potential of Papaya Petiole for Health and Environment”; 7) Assoc. Prof. Dr Dayang Norulfairuz bt Abang Zaidel with the title “Pectin polysaccharides application as Food Ingredients”; 8) Dr Dalia Sukmawati MSi (UNJ) with the title “Yeast in Fermented Food and Their Probiotic Potential”; 9 ) Dr. Nur Izyan Wan Azelee (UTM IBD) with the title “Polysaccharides in Cosmetics”; 10) Dr. Neneng Siti Silfi Ambarwati, M.Sc., Apt (UNJ) with the title “Natural Products in Cosmetic”.

It is hoped that the collaboration between FMIPA UNJ and UTM can improve the internationalization program in accordance with the vision of UNJ and other international networks carried out by FMIPA UNJ and other faculties at UNJ.
