👘 NATIONAL BATIK DAY 👘

In the fourth session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage held on October 2, 2009, UNESCO recognizes batik as a Humanitarian Heritage of Oral and Intangible Cultural Masterpieces.

The recognition from UNESCO also encouraged the President of Indonesia at that time, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) to set October 2 as National Batik Day.

This is regulated in Presidential Decree Number 33 of 2009 issued by SBY on November 17, 2009.
