DESCRIPTION

Animal physiology laboratory location in Hasjim Ashari building 9th floor – East Campus, Universitas Negeri Jakarta is a laboratory used to support research activities in fields of animal physiology, immunology, and animal parasitology. This animal physiology research laboratory is used to accommodate dynamic students’ research that encompass research group discussion and research activities.

Research topics that have been held consist of:

  1. Physiological and Immunological of Model Animal: Allergy, Rhinitis, Atopic Dermatitis, Atherosclerosis, and Coronary Heart.
  2. Ecto/Endoparasite in Fish (Catfish, Parrot Fish), Deer, Javanese Bull, Laboratory Mice, Cats, rice field python, and broiler chicken.
  3. Preventive and curative effect of traditional plants (pearl grass, Moringa leaves, sugar apple seeds, virgin coconut oil, synbiotic milk) to allergy, rhinitis, Atopic Dermatitis, Atherosclerosis to model mice, ascariasis in chicken, nematodiasis in laboratory mice and anti-flea Ctenocephalides felis in cats.
  4. Toxicity assay (LD50 and LD100) using BSLT (Brine Shrimp Lethality Test) method, Murinetoxicity, Ovi and Larva Toxicity in Endoparasites.

Research activities in the animal physiology laboratory generally consists of usage of laboratory animals (mice, rats, chicken, and fish), research sampling methods, blood and serum sample preparation, hematologic analysis, immunological analysis, collection, identification and endo/ectoparasites culture, and blood sample preparation for analysis, tissue, and wholemount from test sample. In every semester, Animal Physiology Research Laboratory has approximately 10 research students that study animal physiology, immunology, and animal parasitology. From 2018 until 2022, more than 25 students graduated from the Department of Biology with research focused on animal physiology, immunology, and animal parasitology.
