Community Service in 2021

The Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Jakarta State University (UNJ), is carrying out Community Service activities in 2021. This activity is an annual agenda carried out by lecturers and assisted by students in order to support the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

In 2021, the theme of this Community Service activity is “Developing Competency of Primary School Teachers Through Material Deepening”. This activity was carried out in the form of training for elementary school teachers and in collaboration with the Teacher Working Group (KKG) of Jatiasih District, Bekasi City. This activity was carried out online via zoom cloud meeting on Saturday, 25 September 2021 and 02 October 2021. There were four teams of Mathematics Study Program lecturers who carried out this activity, that is:

The series of activities began with an opening event which was held on Saturday, September 25 2021, at 09.00 WIB. The parties who gave speeches at this opening event were Mrs. Dr. Lukita Ambarwati, S.Pd., M.Sc. as Coordinator of the Mathematics Study Program, Mrs. Widhiati Dwi Widjayanti, S.Pd. as Chair of the KKG Jatiasih District, Bekasi City, and Mrs. Dr. Diana Vivanti Sigit, M.Si. as Deputy Dean for Student Affairs, FMIPA UNJ, who also opened Community Service activities for the 2021 FMIPA UNJ Mathematics Study Program.

After the opening event was over, participants were divided into selected rooms so they could receive material according to their interests. Participants are also given assignments to deepen their understanding of the material explained by the lecturer team.

In general, this community service activity ran smoothly. This activity is not only attended by elementary school teachers who are members of the KKG Jatiasih District, Bekasi City, but is also open to teachers throughout Indonesia. The aim of this activity is to provide in-depth material to elementary school teachers in order to minimize misconceptions about teaching certain topics/material at the elementary school level to students. This is an effort to help improve the quality of learning and human resources in Indonesia.

This activity received a positive response from the training participants and they hope that similar activities can be carried out on an ongoing basis. Some responses from other participants were that this activity could increase knowledge and knowledge for teachers, especially at the elementary school level.
