Universitas Negeri Jakarta Culture Collection (UNJCC)

With microbes, we make a healthier world

Brief Introduction of UNJCC

Universitas Negeri Jakarta Culture Collection or UNJCC was first established in 2014 and is affiliated to Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Indonesia. UNJCC manages collections for microorganisms such as yeasts, bacteria, and fungi. Our research focuses in the exploration of microbial diversity from agricultural products and fermented food and its application for many areas including sustainable agriculture, health, industrial optimization, as well as food safety and security. Our strains support academic, health, food and industries and are used in microbiology laboratories in Indonesia.

Yeast

Yeast is a single-celled fungi that plays a crucial role in various biological processes, most notably in the fermentation of sugars to produce carbon dioxide and alcohol. Widely used in every sectors like culinary or industry, yeast has been a fundamental part of human civilization for centuries.

Filamentous Fungi

Filamentous fungi, or molds, are a diverse group of multicellular organisms characterized by long, thread-like structures called hyphae. These fungi play crucial roles in various ecological processes and have significant impacts on industry and medicine.

Bacteria

Bacteria are single-celled microorganisms that are among the simplest and most ancient forms of life on Earth. Characterized by their prokaryotic cell structure, lacking a membrane-bound nucleus and other organelles. Bacteria play crucial roles in various ecosystems.
