The Biology Education Program at FMIPA UNJ is on a mission to make a real difference in the community! Every year, we proudly carry out community service activities that create lasting impacts—and 2024 was no exception. This year’s Community Service Program (P2M) was truly special, as we partnered with Sekolah Rendah dan Menengah Hidayah (SRIH) in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia to take things to a whole new level. From September 9th to 12th, 2024, a dedicated group of six teams of 20 passionate participants—faculty and students alike—traveled to make a difference, sharing knowledge and creating connections that will last for years.

Here’s a sneak peek at the exciting and impactful topics we explored during this year’s community service journey:

  1. Empowering Teachers with Neurophysiology Learning Based on TPACK
  2. Unleashing Teacher Creativity and Leadership with Project-Based Learning (PjBL)
  3. Creating Eco Enzymes from Organic Waste: A Greener Future
  4. Transforming Used Cooking Oil into a Resource for Sustainable Communities
  5. Using Seed Waste from Cocoa Fermentation to Boost Community Income and Nutrition
  6. Crafting Modern Herbal Medicine Products from Rhizome Plants to Increase Community Wealth

Over 30 enthusiastic teachers from primary and secondary schools came together for this transformative experience. The energy was contagious, with everyone eager to learn, share, and grow together. The event was a fantastic success, running smoothly and exceeding expectations.

And guess what? This is just the beginning! We’re excited about the future and the endless possibilities for further collaborations. Together, we’ll continue breaking boundaries and inspiring change in our local communities and globally!
