Field Work Lecture of Physics Study Program and Physics Education

Field Work Lecture is an annual program held by physics study program and physics education. In the Field Work Lecture this time the accompanying lecturer who participated was Dr. Umiatin M.Sc., Dr. Hadi Nasbey, M.Sc., Fauzi Bakri, S.Pd, M.Sc., Dr. Firmanul Catur Wibowo, M.Pd., and Lari Andres Sanjaya, M.Pd. The number of participants who took part in this Field Work Lecture was approximately 140 students who were a combination of physics study program and physics education students. This Field Work Lecture was held for 2 days, from 23 – 24 October 2019 in Bandung in the form of visits to several agencies.

The objectives of this MPA are:

a) Get to know and understand the world of work in accordance with the field of science.

b) Identify various problems and challenges in the world of work.

c) Understand the application of science and technology learned in lectures to various aspects of the world of work.

While the direct benefits that can be felt by students, study programs, faculties and institutions are:

a. Increasing student insight into the world of work according to the field of science

b. Provide an overview to students about the relationship between theory and its application and the factors that influence it

c. Provide provision and introduction to students about the world of work in accordance with the field of science

Participants depart from UNJ on the first day at around 6.00 am and travel to Bandung for around 3-4 hours. The first day of the visit was the Center for Atmospheric Science and Technology – LAPAN in Bandung. There the participants were directed to see some of the results of research that is being done/has been done. In addition, this visit held a discussion forum between the participants and the researchers there regarding the research studies being carried out. This visit was closed with a friendly event and a group photo.

After lunch break, the visit then continued to the Bosscha Observatory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bandung Institute of Technology. During this visit, the participants were invited to visit several important rooms in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bandung Institute of Technology. One of the rooms visited was the Bosscha Observatory, an old building owned by the physics department of the Bandung Institute of Technology. This place can be used as a lecture hall as well as a place of research. During the visit, a question and answer event regarding the building within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bandung Institute of Technology was also held for several hours. The event was again closed through hospitality and group photos.

The last event, which was a visit to the Basic Science Laboratory of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bandung Institute of Technology, was held on the last day in the morning. The laboratory itself contains several laboratories from several departments, including the physics and geophysics departments. During the visit, the participants listened to a brief presentation on physics learning methods, which was then followed by a question and answer session. This event was closed with suave and group photos. After resting during the day and giving some souvenirs, the participants headed back to Jakarta.
