Inaugural Lecture on Olympism 2020: Philosophy and Applications in Real Life

Olympiads is one of the compulsory courses in the physics and physics education study program which contains non-physics material, but contains material about instilling character from the values contained in the Olympiads in students. This course indirectly teaches students the values of a spirit of honesty and never giving up in facing difficult situations. This course was first introduced by the physics and physics education study program in 2014 and has received a positive response from both students and MIPA faculty.

This year, precisely on Thursday 24 September 2020 from 03.00-05.00 p.m., the physics and physics education study program simultaneously held its first online olympism lecture which was attended by all physics and physics education students class of 2020. This was due to the Covid-19 pandemic which reached now it hasn’t subsided. This inaugural lecture was delivered by Dr. Anggoro Budi Susilo the originator of the first Olympism lecture. The material in this lecture covers the history, philosophy, goals, application, and output of Olympism.

If in previous years the Olympiad course was always closed by camping together between lecturers and participants around November-December, this year’s camping event has not been decided due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The aim of this camping together is to foster a sense of togetherness as a big physics family. We just pray that this pandemic ends quickly and we can gather again.
