Initiation of Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) Cooperation

On February 6, 2024, the Physics Cluster of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) had the opportunity to visit the office of the Indonesia-China High-Speed Train (KCIC) located at Jl. Tol Jakarta – Cikampek KM.0+800, Halim Perdana Kusumah, Kec. Makasar, East Jakarta, DKI Jakarta. This visit marks the initial step towards establishing future cooperation for FMIPA UNJ, particularly within the Physics Cluster. The initiation visit was attended by Dr. Esmar Budi, M.T., as the Vice Dean I of FMIPA UNJ, Dr. Hadi Nasbey, S.Pd., M.Si. as the Coordinator of the Physics Education S1 Study Program, and Dr. Umiatin, M.Si., as the Coordinator of the Physics S1 Study Program, along with Mr. Ahmad Najib Tawangalun as the GM Operation & Maintenance of PT KCIC. The focus of this cooperation initiation is to optimize internship opportunities at KCIC for FMIPA UNJ students, especially those within the physics cluster. Additionally, it aims to explore research opportunities related to data available at KCIC, including aspects such as service, operations, and administration, to enhance management-operation quality at KCIC. KCIC is currently conducting ongoing training for PT. KAI’s train operators with trainers/experts from China.

KCIC is a high-speed train project connecting Jakarta with Bandung, Indonesia. This project is a collaboration between the Indonesian and Chinese governments. KCIC is planned to operate at speeds of up to 350 km/h and is part of the Indonesian government’s efforts to enhance transportation infrastructure in the country. KCIC is a collaboration between several companies from both Indonesia and China. Some of the main companies involved in the KCIC project include:

1. PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC): A joint venture between Indonesian state-owned enterprises, PT Pilar Sinergi BUMN Indonesia (PSBI), and a consortium of Chinese companies led by China Railway Corporation (CRC).

2. China Railway Corporation (CRC): A Chinese state-owned enterprise responsible for the management and development of the railway system in China.

3. PT Pilar Sinergi BUMN Indonesia (PSBI): A company established by several Indonesian state-owned enterprises involved in various infrastructure projects in Indonesia. Moreover, in terms of providing experts and training, KCIC may involve various parties from Indonesia and China.
