Bridging Nations through 21st Century Skills: UNJ Students in SAM 21 Malaysia-Thailand

Students from the Chemistry Education and Accounting programs have recently taken part in the South East Asian Mobility for 21st Century Skills (SAM 21) program. This program (13-17 June and 3-7 August 2025) was held in Malaysia and Thailand, jointly hosted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand.

Throughout the program, both students and lecturers engaged in intensive workshops that explored how sensors can be applied to address real-world problems through the design thinking approach. The program brought together participants from Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), King Mongkut University Thailand Thonburi (KMUTT), and Ritsumeikan University-Japan, creating a rich environment for academic collaboration and intercultural exchange.

Beyond academic activities, the program also provided students with opportunities to share and celebrate their diverse cultural backgrounds, strengthening bonds across nations. Hopefully, the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained through SAM 21 will empower participants to face future challenges with creativity, collaboration, and innovation. -Sarina Hanifah
