The Guest Lecture Series organized by the Jakarta State University Chemistry Study Program is the flagship program most eagerly awaited by chemistry students. This program presents speakers who are experts in their fields so that students gain insight regarding chemistry and its applications. Guest Lecture episode 8 was successfully held offline on Monday, 27 February 2023 with the theme "Multi-Functional Furans from Un-activated Carbohydrates" which presented Assoc Prof. Zaher Judeh, Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. This Guest Lecture discusses the synthesis of furan-based compounds using unactivated carbohydrate precursors. It is hoped that this activity, students can add new insights from practitioners directly. The knowledge gained is of course very important and useful because it will not be obtained in class.

This hybrid This Guest Lecture series  began with an opening by Dr. Hanhan Dianhar, M.Sc. and Dr. Fera Kurniadewi, M.Si which was then followed by an introduction to the material by Assoc Prof. Zaher Judeh, Ph.D. as a resource person. The material session was very informative starting from the introduction of furan-based compounds, synthesis methods, catalysts used, and the final research results. Through this 8th Guest Lecture Series, it is hoped that it can provide inspiration and add insight to UNJ Chemistry Students. Guest Lecture Series ke- 8 activity, diharapkan dapat memberikan inspirasi dan menambah wawasan para Mahasiswa Kimia UNJ.
