Introduction to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Attended by Chemistry Students of Universitas Negeri Jakarta

ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is an international standard that specifies requirements for the technical competence of testing and calibration laboratories. This standard provides guidance regarding quality and technical management that should be applied in laboratory operations. The requirements listed in ISO/IEC 17025:2017 apply to a wide variety of laboratory types and sizes worldwide.

In a laboratory environment, an understanding of these standards will give students a deeper knowledge of:

  1. Data Accuracy and Trustworthiness: Students will understand the importance of data accuracy in testing and calibration, and how these standards help in achieving these goals.
  2. Process and Quality Management: Introducing the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard will teach students about the importance of standardized processes and effective quality management in a laboratory environment.
  3. Understanding of Risk: This standard teaches students how to identify, measure, and manage risks associated with testing and calibration.
  4. Professional Ethics: By following these standards, students will understand the importance of integrity, ethics, and responsibility in carrying out testing and calibration.

Through the introduction of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, the Chemistry Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Negeri Jakarta seeks to create graduates who not only have academic knowledge, but also technical competence and an understanding of the importance of quality in the laboratory world. Thus, students are expected to be ready to face the challenges of an increasingly complex and demanding world of work.
